Tara Antonipillai delivering a keynote at a legal industry
           conference

Built for This Audience, Not Adapted for It

Most firms have booked a speaker before. A retreat keynote, a resilience session, a workshop on communication. Some of it landed. Most of it didn’t stick, because it was designed for a general professional audience and then applied to attorneys.

Lawyers notice the difference immediately, and a skeptical audience is a hard room to recover.

Tara practiced in the tax group at Arnold & Porter, then earned a masters in applied psychology at Penn. The sessions are evidence-based, the examples come from law firms, and the material assumes an audience that is short on time and wants something it can use on Monday.

The interactive exercises were outstanding. The three hours went by so quickly. I walked away with practical solutions I could immediately apply, a deeper understanding of my own strengths, and stronger relationships with others on my team.

Signature Sessions

Each works as a keynote, a workshop, or the opening session of a longer program. All can be tailored to your firm.

The Science of Sustainable Excellence

Best for: firm retreats, partner meetings, conference keynotes

What does the research say about how high performers sustain it over time? This session gives attorneys and firm leaders an evidence-based framework for performing at the highest level, without the cost that usually comes with it.

  • Why the well-being versus performance framing has it backwards
  • Recovery, attention, and energy as performance inputs, not perks
  • What actually predicts sustained performance over a long career

The Secret to High-Performing Teams

Best for: practice group offsites, leadership meetings, PD programs

What does the research actually say about what makes teams perform? This session cuts through conventional wisdom and gives practice groups and firm leaders an evidence-based framework for building stronger teams.

  • Psychological safety, and what it takes to build it in a partnership
  • Trust as a mechanism, not a feeling
  • What practice group leaders can change immediately

Building a Practice That Lasts

Best for: women’s initiatives, bar associations, partner and counsel audiences

A practical, research-informed session for attorneys at any level who want to design a career in law that’s both high-performing and sustainable, on their own terms.

  • Client relationships that hold up over years
  • The relationships that compound over a career
  • Deciding what to stop doing

Need something that isn’t on this list? A good number of sessions start with a firm describing a specific problem.

Common Questions

What length works best?

Sixty to ninety minutes for a keynote, half a day for a workshop where participants practice something. A 45-minute slot works too. It means fewer ideas covered more thoroughly, which is usually the better trade.

Will this land with a partner audience?

That is the design constraint the sessions are built around. Tara practiced at Arnold & Porter, so the examples come from law firms and the material assumes an audience that is skeptical of soft-skills programming and short on time.

Sessions are evidence-based, and the research is there because it is useful, not to establish credentials.

Can you tailor the session to our firm?

Yes, and it is standard rather than an add-on. Everything starts with listening. Tara asks for a short call with whoever is organizing, and where possible a conversation with two or three attendees, so the examples match what is actually happening at your firm. A retreat session for a practice group mid-merger is a different talk from the same title at a bar association.

Do you speak at legal conferences and bar associations as well as firm events?

Yes. Past audiences include the DC Bar’s Practice 360, the NALP Professional Development Institute, the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and the Institute for Well-Being in Law, alongside firm retreats and partner meetings.

Is there a fee, and does it cover travel?

Fees depend on format, length, and preparation, and travel is billed separately. The quickest way to get a number is a short call describing the event.

Can a keynote lead into something longer?

Often, and it is a sensible way to start. A retreat session shows your people what the work is like before the firm commits to a program. From there the next steps are usually a Meridian cohort or individual partner coaching.
